Why Bio-focusing?
It's possible to focus attention to whatever point of choice you desire, and then act in respect of that point. So, if you change focus, you change your ambit of action and influence. This works for financial management, organizational management, health, personal growth. Mindful focusing involves thinking, feeling and deciding. It also involves being alive, which we usually take entirely for granted. Our very living is a natural focus that we should learn to use for maximum fruitfulness. Bio-focusing is a conceptual tool that has vast application possibilities for coaches, teachers, entrepreneurs, managers, chronically ill people and people who prefer to grow. You can learn it on your own, and in groups.
Prof Walter Harry Willies, the author of this concept, is the product of multi-disciplinary, formal and non-formal education. He has taught in schools, colleges and universities since 1977.
He has a BA in English, psychology and religious studies, as well as a post-graduate teaching diploma, and a B.Ed with electives in leadership and management, counselling and adult education, from UCT.
From the University of Fort Hare, he gained a post-graduate diploma in applied linguistics.
He earned a D.Litt in story therapy from Knightsbridge University, is a registered poetry therapist with NAPT in New York, and is a graduate of the BIH in London, in homeopathic medicine.
He has various certificates in energy medicine.
He has been associate-professor of English at what is now the North West University, was professor of complementary medicine at Knightsbridge University and is currently adjunct-professor of arts-medicine at the European American University, and has a deep interest in the science of subjectivity. He is COMENSA-registered.
COACHING SOLUTIONS
For some, coaching is a fad, for others, a profession. For me, coaching is about solutions, whether in or out of the formal box. I was blessed to have really good teachers all my life. After years of formal studies in psychology, our class sat up one day to ask the tutor, "Now that we've covered all this theory, what do we really do? " His answer: "Whatever works".
Whatever sphere of work or relationship, whatever level at which you participate, whatever the problem, don't complain, just come with the solution. This is what my Swiss mother taught me, often accompanied by a smack around the head. I'm thankful for that. Sometimes you need to stretch into solutions. Sometimes you need to grow into solutions. Sometimes you have to create them. By using perceptions, sensitivities and incremental decisions, you make solutions tangible. Sometimes you have to reformat yourself to take on relevant information. Biofocusing covers these requirements and goes much further, demonstrating how imagination, active awareness, decisive moments and purposeful commitment create solutions for circumstances of all kinds.
